The winners of Providence's first Sustainable Housing Design Competition will be announced this morning at a housing-themed breakfast.
The Celebration of Housing Breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m. today, and Mayor David Cicilline will announce the winners of the competition.
The challenge was to design a home that incorporated energy efficiency; conserved resources; used renewable energy; and took advantage of other principles to build homes that leave less of a mark on their surrounding environments.
Cicilline is also expected to outline steps that the city is taking to relieve the pressures of foreclosure on homeowners.
